Educational Talent Search

What Is ETS?

  • Educational Talent Search (ETS) is one of several federally funded TRiO programs housed under the U.S. Department of Education.
  • The ETS program identifies and assists qualified students  – from 8th through 12th grades – to prepare for and achieve post-secondary education and/or  training.
  • The Utah Tech ETS program has been assisting students in the Washington County School District since 1991.
  • Currently, there are ETS Advisors working with students at Dixie Middle/High, Enterprise High, Hurricane Middle/High, Pine View Middle/High, Snow Canyon Middle/High, and Water Canyon High.
  • ETS Advisors meet with students in groups and individually, providing interesting and fun activities that help them develop academically, socially, and civically.  ETS students have fun learning about themselves and about all of the opportunities available to them!
  • Best of all, participation in ETS is FREE!

Our Mission

The mission of Educational Talent Search (ETS) is to help prepare program participants (students in 8th – 12th grades) to successfully complete middle and high school with the goal of enrolling in and completing a program of study at a college, university, or trade school. To this end, dedicated ETS advisors provide academic support, career exploration, financial literacy instructions, and opportunities for personal development. High school students receive one-to-one help with identifying an educational path, submitting college/trade school applications, and finding / applying for federal aid and scholarships. Studies conducted for the US Department of Education show that workshops, campus tours, and cultural activities, such as those provided by ETS, increase educational opportunities and access for these youth.
